Wedding celebrant · Christchurch & Canterbury Wherever you're saying I do
I'm a Christchurch-based marriage and civil union celebrant, and I'll happily come to you. From a backyard in the suburbs to a beach, a vineyard, a harbour-side lookout or a lake in the Mackenzie, the best place to get married is the one that feels like the two of you.
Your local Christchurch celebrant
Christchurch is home, and it's a wonderful city to get married in. Leafy gardens and riverbanks, the Port Hills, the beaches of Sumner and New Brighton, character venues and restaurants in the central city, or simply your own home with the people you love.
Whether you're planning a big celebration, a small gathering of twenty, or an elopement with just two witnesses, I'll help you create a ceremony that fits the place and the two of you.
I marry couples throughout Christchurch, Banks Peninsula and the wider Canterbury region, and I'm happy to travel anywhere in New Zealand.
Areas I cover
A few of the places across Canterbury where I'm available to lead your wedding, civil union, elopement or vow renewal. Don't see yours? Ask me. If you can get there, chances are I can too.
Christchurch city & suburbs
Central city, Merivale, Fendalton, Riccarton, Cashmere, Halswell, Burnside, St Albans and everywhere in between. Gardens, venues, restaurants, your own backyard or the lounge where it all began.
Sumner, New Brighton & the coast
Sand between your toes at Sumner, Taylors Mistake, New Brighton or Waimairi Beach. Beach ceremonies are relaxed, beautiful and, with a little planning, very doable.
Lyttelton, the Port Hills & Banks Peninsula
Harbour views from Lyttelton and Governors Bay, Diamond Harbour, Little River, Okains Bay, and the French-flavoured charm of Akaroa. A favourite for small weddings and elopements.
Selwyn
Rolleston, Lincoln, Prebbleton, West Melton, Tai Tapu, Darfield and the rural venues and lifestyle blocks that dot the plains.
Waimakariri & North Canterbury
Rangiora, Kaiapoi, Pegasus, Woodend, Oxford and Amberley, plus the vineyards of the Waipara Valley wine country.
Hanmer Springs & Kaikōura
Alpine forest and hot pools in Hanmer Springs, or mountains meeting the sea in Kaikōura. Perfect for a destination weekend with your favourite people.
Mid & South Canterbury
Ashburton, Methven and Mt Hutt, Geraldine and Timaru. Big skies, mountain backdrops and country charm.
Lake Tekapo & the Mackenzie
Turquoise lakes, lupins in season and Aoraki/Mount Cook on the horizon. Tekapo and Twizel make for unforgettable elopements and intimate weddings.
Further afield, anywhere in Aotearoa
I'm an officially appointed New Zealand marriage and civil union celebrant, so I can legally marry you anywhere in the country. Queenstown, Wānaka, Nelson, the West Coast or your family's farm, travel and accommodation are simply quoted up front.
Good to know when choosing your spot
Travel, quoted up front
Additional travel costs may apply for weddings more than 30km from central Christchurch. Any travel or accommodation costs are discussed and agreed before you book. No surprises.
Your licence and your location
Your marriage licence application asks where you're getting married, so it helps to have your location settled before you apply. If your plans change, let me know early and I'll guide you through it.
Parks, beaches and public spaces
Some council parks, gardens and reserves need a booking or permission for a ceremony. It's worth checking with the local council early, especially for popular spots and summer weekends.
Canterbury weather
Nor'westers, southerly changes and the occasional four-seasons-in-one-day. For outdoor ceremonies we'll always plan a wet-weather backup, so rain or shine, you're getting married.
